Azamara Club Cruise Experience by Mary Doyle, Luxury Travel Designer

I’ve been on numerous cruises over the past 35 years in the travel business, but have never experience such a “Destination Emersion” as I did on my Azamara Club Cruise. Highlights of my 7 day roundtrip itinerary were longer time spent in port (10-12 hours), a small ship of 694 passengers,  an overnight in Livorno (port for Florence), where I arranged a scrumptious cooking class,  and a very special Azamazing Evening with the local Three Tenors opera.

When I travel I always leave room for a few extra surprises. Our ship could not anchor in Portofino, but a short train ride from Genoa where I spent a lovely day. Then a Prince Albert sighting in Monaco….

It is always nice to plan a couple of nights before your cruise when starting out in Europe. I spent 2 nights in Nice and had a wonderful full day tour of  the Provence Countryside.

Leave your sequin gowns at home. This is resort casual. My favorite evening was the “White Night” around the pool with a Mediterranean buffet. Everyone wore casual whites, dined on fabulous cuisine, and danced the night away.
